How The Kickstarter Job Scheme Grant Works

The Kickstarter Job Scheme Grant enables businesses to create 6-month job placements for people who are currently on Universal Credit and at risk of long-term unemployment.

Placements must ensure that “kickstarters” are developing skills and experience that they can use to find work after the placement has finished.

100% funding is available which will include 25 hours a week at National Minimum Wage, plus National Insurance Contributions and statutory pension contributions. There is also £1,500 per job placement designed to cover set up costs, support and training.

TO qualify for the Kickstarter Job Scheme Grant, you would need to complete an application and funding will be available to those who are successful.  Applications must be for a minimum of 30 job placements or, if you are unable to commit to 30, you’ll need to complete the box below. If you need any help applying for the Kickstarter Job Scheme Grant, we will be offering to be a representative to assist small businesses.

Kickstart is not an apprenticeship scheme.

Who Can Apply for the Kickstarter Job Scheme Grant?

Any Kickstarter Job Scheme Grant placements you have must be new jobs. They must not be used to replace existing or planned vacancies or cause an existing employee or contractor to lose or reduce their employment.

Furthermore, the roles must be:

  • a minimum of 25 hours a week for 6 months
  • paid at least the NMW for their age group
  • should not require people to undertake extensive training before they begin the job placement.

Each application should include how you will help the participants to develop their skills and experience, including:

  • support to look for long-term work, including career advice and setting goals
  • support with CV and interview preparations
  • supporting the participant with basic skills, such as attendance, timekeeping and teamwork

Once a job placement is created, it can be taken up by a second person once the first successful applicant has completed their 6-month term.

You can apply for the Kickstarter Job Scheme Grant and find more information, on the government’s webpage here.

How We Can Help…

If you would be interested in taking on a placement we will be happy to become an employer representative but we would need a minimum of 30 placements to start this process.

If you are already a Kate Underwood HR & Training client, support for this would be included in your monthly service plan – otherwise, there would be a small cost included assisting you through this process.

If you would like to find out more and register your interest, simply complete the below form.

If you have any questions about this or anything at all, please don’t hesitate to book a call with us. Many thanks!
