Happy Hounds Make A Happy Home!

My first Finalist for the Small Business Award in the Hampshire 2017 Venus Awards is Emily Walden from Happy Hounds.

Tell Us About Happy Hounds, Emily!

“Happy Hounds was founded by Emily Walden who grew up in Yorkshire and moved down to Winchester with her Jack Russell, Willow, around a year ago. After training as a property surveyor, Emily chose to change her career and focus on a business that incorporates her love for dogs and the great outdoors!”

“Having been in a competitive business environment, working long hours, Emily is aware that dog owners are often not able to have the luxury to provide their pet with the amount of exercise they require each day. Emily started Happy Hounds to provide a professional dog walking services in and around Winchester, Hampshire, and allow dog owners with the peace of mind that their pet is receiving a long walk each day, where they can play and socialise with other dogs in the Happy Hounds family.”

About Emily

After graduating from University in Estate Management Emily started to work as a graduate surveyor. Quite quickly, Emily realised that office life just wasn’t for her and she wanted to pursue a career with animals. So early in 2015, Emily started Happy Hounds which at that time was just Emily taking dogs for walks. This quickly grew and Emily decided that she wanted to offer Doggy Day Care, meaning she needed to find suitable premises.

In June 2015, the Doggy Day Care was opened with a lot of hard work from Emily and her team she now has a wonderful space where the dogs can socialise, play and chill out in a safe and secure environment.  Starting her own business has meant that she has been able to have a dog of her own – the lovely Lola – you can catch her on twitter as she has her own account!

When asked Emily said that she would invite the following to a dinner party:-

Celine Dion – as Emily has always been fascinated by her since she was young and has lots of questions she wants to ask.

Serena Wiliams – as Emily is a big tennis fan and she is an amazing role model for young people, especially those from a disadvantaged background.

My Mum – as Emily doesn’t get to see her enough as she lives in Yorkshire and she knows how to throw a party!

Victoria Stillwell – so she can give Emily some top dog training tips!

Emily’s biggest influence is her partner, Chris. “He has helped to grow the business to where it is today with his expertise in business. This is only the first stage in Happy Hounds my vision is to have everything under one roof to add to the dog walking, doggy daycare and dog food shop develop a grooming parlour and Puppy and Dog Training. Oh… and maybe add a couple more doggy day care centres, when she has a few spare minutes.”

Emily has a clear passion for animals and especially woman’s best friend and always thinks about their well being. We are a nation of animal lovers but also a nation that works the longest hours so ensuring our pampered pooch is fed and walked during the day is one less thing on the to do list.

At Happy Hounds, Emily has created an environment for owners to leave their dogs safely and without risk. To have grown the business in such a short time and already have the next plan nearly executed there is no stopping Emily (and Lola!)
