This time last week the lovely Samantha Kingston from Virtual Umbrella and Katy Handley-Quit from Olive’s Larder were on stage with our judge and sponsors of the New Business Award Sue Sullivan from Rothmans.  Camera lights were flashing from with the fab Ashleigh Spice and Steve Bieniek from The Photo Rooms in the amazing ballroom at the Hilton at the Ageas Bowl for the Southampton Venus Awards 2016.

The journey for this night started way back in October when nominations were opened for the awards.  I have to say that it has been like being on a roller coaster ever since.

Being only 9 months into my business it was a shock to be nominated let alone get through to be a finalist.  The lovely Tara Howard keeps you on track the whole way from start to finish.

I was honoured to be a finalist and so proud when Sammy won the New Business Award.  She is an amazing woman and is really ensuring that women have a face in the very male-dominated tech world.  As you may know, I am a little bit of a geek myself and is one of the people that actually understand what Sammy does. We know that that technology is only going be more prominent in our every day lives from our children being born to going to school to our working day.

2016 was not my year but the Venus Awards have allowed me to meet some amazing women and given me the confidence that starting my own business was the right thing to do.

Congratulations again to Sammy & Katy both fantastic finalists and definitely firm coffee break buddies.
