6 HR Tech For Small Businesses: For Your Human Resource Needs

Here are my top six ‘go-to’ pieces of HR tech for small businesses which will help with all your Human Resource needs. Of course, number one has to be an HR System…

Breathe

This is the HR software your team will love. Intuitive, straightforward and employee-friendly. The success of your company is about managing your employees — not paper. So, by focusing on simplicity and ease of use, Breathe is a cloud HR software solution designed to tame the chaos. This allows you to come out from behind the desk and lead your people. Cumbersome HR systems are officially a thing of the past. Keeping all your employee information in one place and automating all those time-consuming human resource administrative tasks, Breathe transforms the way you do HR. With customisable reports, automated and streamlined processes, this HR system gives you the tools you need to support your business.

As a Gold Partner of Breathe – I now use this HR System for all my clients. You can book a free demo here with me.

Upskill People

Ensuring you are legally compliant with your training can be hard for a small company and this is where HR Tech For Small Businesses can really help. I am lucky enough to have forged a great relationship with Upskill People and often partner with them to bring the corporate access E-Learning to the SME Market.

You don’t need any specialised equipment and, on average, their courses take 20 minutes to complete. It is fully auditable and they are continually updating the content. Statutory training needs to be completed (depending on the subject) annually and if you have a small team it is easily forgotten.

Take a look at the courses available which can be as little as £2.00 per learner, per year! If you’d like to find out more, book a free Upskill People demo with me.

Mile IQ

Hands up who has Office 365 Premium? Personally, I’ve been using MileIQ for a while to track and differentiate my business mileage from my personal mileage. Just by making sure you have your phone on you, MileIQ does all the rest. Every Friday I go through and swipe right for personal or left for business. This HR Tech For Small Businesses is handy for paying expenses and also claiming them back from clients. But, you can also set it up for your team to use and track their mileage also.

When Pete started I thought £44 for the year was worth every penny and decided to sign up. However, when I logged onto the MileIQ website… to my surprise Microsoft had acquired them and it now comes as a free app with Office 365 Premium. Bonus!

Acuity Scheduling

So, let’s talk recruitment. You get your CV’s in, select the candidates, and then the emails start to fly around to arrange times that you are both free.

Or let’s imagine another scenario: Someone is on your website, not able to sleep or up early working and they think – “Wow, I want to chat to them, I will do it later.” … but, later never happens. Acuity Scheduling has the ability to sync with your calendar and allow anyone to book appointments directly into your calendar. You can also block specific times each week/month for certain types of appointments. Genius!

Receipt Bank

I have been using FreeAgent as my accounting software since I started my business and this links to Receipt Bank.

It has made my life so much easier. So, like all small businesses, I receive invoices and want to keep them all in one place with my bank transactions, just in case the HRMC want to take a look. So, I simply set up rules in Microsoft Outlook so that when an invoice comes in, it automatically sends the emails to Receipt Bank and files them in my invoices folder. Once the email gets to Receipt Bank, I have set up rules there and for regular invoices, so it just automatically assigns a cost code and sends to FreeAgent with a copy of the invoice…simples! Also, when it comes to your employee’s expenses, Receipt Bank can help you keep track and process their expense claims too.

Teams

The last HR tech for small businesses that I couldn’t live without is Microsoft Teams. It’s an easy and accessible way to communicate with the team at KUHR. Just think of it as a messenger service similar to ‘Slack’. I especially find it handy for the team to get hold of me for any quick questions rather than sending me an email that I might miss in my inbox.

It’s a great piece of HR tech for small businesses as it encourages team communication and collaboration. Plus, it’s a good way to quickly check in with your staff if you’re having a busy day out of the office and can’t chat on the phone.
